About DMA: Dance Masters of America, Inc. is an International Non-Profit Educational Organization of dance teachers, who have been certified by test to teach; have had a professional dance career; or have a degreed certification from an approved institution of higher education. DMA is the oldest teaching organization for dance in North America. Under Dance Masters of America, there exists regional chapters which are affiliated within the organization. ​
About DADT: Dixie Association of Dance Teachers is the 37th chapter of DMA, and oversees the Gulf Coast Region of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. DADT, known affectionately as "Dixie," is an association of dance professionals certified by test who are committed to elevating the art of dance in the Gulf Coast Region, and providing opportunities for educational growth and comradery amongst studios and teachers in the area. "Dixie" holds two grand body meetings a year for it's active members, and one annual convention and competition event. "Dixie" is managed by an established Board of Directors who are elected by the membership body every two years. Our educators within the organization set a standard of excellence in their studios, throughout the region, and nationally.​

Dixie Association of Dance Teachers is a professional organization of artists, certified educators, and academically degreed members, committed to the elevation of the art of dance and provides innovative artistic experiences for the advancement of dance worldwide.

Objectives
1. Enable dance educators and their students to meet for a cooperative and collective study of their profession
2. Advance the art of dance and improve the practices of its teachings
3. Strive for the mutual interest and fraternal cooperation of its members
4. Aid young dancers and dance teachers by awarding educational dance scholarships to private schools of dance and educational DMA workshops or conventions​
